چکیده مقاله
With the widespread use of virtual learning following the COVID-19 pandemic, online exams have become a preferred mode of assessment. Subsequently, there was a rise in concern on the part of teachers for conducting reliable and valid tests. However, EFL learners’ perceptions of online exams and factors affecting it has not received enough scientific attention. Hence, this study proceeded to investigate the EFL learners’ attitude toward online exams and their fairness. For this aim, a convenience sample of 38 university students participated in an online survey. The data for this study were gained through qualitative methods including interviews and journaling. The findings revealed that most language learners had positive attitudes toward online exams and regarded it as reliable and efficient though some confessed that they resorted to cheating for some exams because of the current social pressure to be graduated with a high GPA. On the other hand, some showed dissatisfaction with the speed of the net and the time devoted for completing the tasks and answering questions and stated that this caused a great deal of stress. Finally, the study provides a number of recommendations for teacher education programs.
