چکیده مقاله
Developing Critical Thinking (CT) skills while acquiring knowledge is becoming a predominant goal for a successful language learning experience. Critical thinking (CT) involves thinking reflectively (being curious), rationally (thinking analytically), and reasonably (coming to sensible conclusions) (Dummett and Hughes, 2019) with a focus on deciding what to believe or do. Although the concept of Critical Thinking (CT) has established itself as a widely discussed topic within modern education, in the field of language teaching, the incorporation of CT activities in EFL/ESL course books is an underdeveloped area of inquiry. This article aims to provide an overview of various critical thinking definitions, along with a detailed discussion of its components and sub-skills, and suggest pedagogical practices for teachers to incorporate CT into language teaching activities and methods of assessment. It attempts to provide a framework of main points as reference for teachers willing to commit themselves to teaching English with a critical perspective.
