The Effect of Implementation of Gamification and Simulation Approaches to Iranian High School Students' Engagement and ESL Speaking Development |

Different researches both inside and outside the scope of language learning demonstrates that the utilization of games and simulations, gamification approach towards learning, are the positive and helpful supplement of the main instructional materials. The aim of this paper will be the implementation of games and simulations in the scope of language learning in general, and speaking ability in specific, to see what differences the gamification approach towards planning, implementing, and evaluating of the pedagogical objectives in speaking part will make, how a prototype set of games and simulations can be used to improve and enhance the level of speaking accuracy and fluency, and how engaged the English as a second language, ESL, learners will be during the learning process in the context of Iranian high schools and for the aim of covering the gap there is for speaking section in the present course books. This mixed-method research will analyze 120 Iranian ESL high school students with the same pedagogical objectives and almost the same language background. |
