چکیده مقاله
Many researchers have criticized formal English textbooks of guidance and high schools for being biased, superficial, or poorly written and have questioned their quality. They believe that these problems are rooted in inappropriate curriculum design because its three aspects (needs, principles, and environment) hadn't been considered systematically. content analysis is a systematic, qualitative approach to analyzing the content or meaning of communicative messages. This study aims to provide an objective and qualitative description of the manifest content of prospect and vision series to discuss their pros and cons and to suggest some ways for overcoming these problems. In this experimental study, the researchers analyze the content of Vision 1and Prospect 1 series from two perspectives: Micro and Macro; in order to point out the strengths and shortcomings. This study was done through falling in the interface of observation and document analysis. It was found that there had been many shortcomings in the books. This study revealed that the topic of Vision 2 was suitable for the students because knowing the greatness of the universe can be interesting and exciting for them. On the other hand, the students may find this lesson a bit compact and according to school timetable, the time allotted to the book is little. Another problem was that the names of people are Persian and the characters of the book are not on real and practical situations. At last, it focuses on recommendations for curriculum designers and provides some suggestion in promoting textbooks reform and social studies.
