Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, many if not all educational systems around the world were forced to present their courses online. As such, in order to obtain a better understanding of the teachers’ attitudes regarding technology and online instruction, the present study investigated 40 teachers’ perception towards teaching English courses online. The specific focus of the research was to identify the English teachers’ attitude towards: 1) technology, 2) teaching online courses, and 3) English students’ performance in online courses. Furthermore, the challenges the English teachers faced after teaching online courses for the first time were also investigated. In order to gather the data for this study, a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were used. The findings of this study indicated that irrespective of challenges and difficulties that the English teachers had faced in their first experience teaching online courses, they had a positive attitude towards technology and online instruction. Implications for teachers who teach online courses are provided in the study. |
