چکیده مقاله
Inspired by the English Language Teaching (ELT) scholars’ enthusiasm to carry out research on the effectiveness of online teaching during Covid-19 pandemic, the present study was an attempt to explore English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers’ perceptions of online teaching. Participants were 45 EFL teachers from Sina and Jahangard private language institutes in Chalus and Kelardasht, Mazandaran. Data were gathered through Teachers’ Attitudes About Online Teaching Questionnaire. Quantitative results of the questionnaire revealed EFL teachers’ positive attitudes regarding online teaching compared to face-to-face classroom. In addition, although they held the belief that online teaching might bring about challenges for them in the classroom, using online teaching could be productive for the teachers in developing their innovative teaching methods. The findings of the study contributed to the beneficial aspects of online teaching for EFL teachers as they can implement it in their classes to trigger the learners’ motivation. Besides, EFL teachers are strongly recommended to take part in teacher education programs to raise their awareness of online teaching in successfully and consciously implementing online instruction.
